The City of Dunedin Cadet Unit hosted a dinner at HMNZS Toroa to commemorate 150 years of cadets in New Zealand. They were formed in Dunedin in 1864.
New Zealand Cadet Forces commandant Commander Glen Stokes spoke about his time in the cadets and how the skills benefited him when he joined the Royal New Zealand Navy.
Southern New Zealand Cadet Forces area co-ordinator Captain Alastair Rankin presented the Galloway Cup to the City of Dunedin Cadet Unit for being judged the best cadet corps unit in the South Island.
A trophy supplied by the Otago Officers' Club was awarded to Sergeant Mara Andrews, of the City of Dunedin Cadet Unit, for outstanding work in the community.
The City of Dunedin Cadet Unit will have its final parade of the year at the Kensington Army Hall on December 9.
The parade will be the official handover of command as Captain Kevin Weir passes the unit flag to Lieutenant Wendy Ross.
