Penny Skinley (4), of Dunedin, makes the most of a sunny day at the St Clair Salt Water Pool recently.

The recent warm weather has attracted good crowds to the pool, which had a slow start to the summer season due to the cool conditions early in the month.

However, it has turned around in the past week and Otago's run of summer weather continued yesterday.

Dunedin International Airport reached 29.4degC, the highest temperature on the Taieri this month, but Alexandra was the hottest place in Otago yesterday, recording 31degC.

Dunedin was the coolest spot in the region with a high of 19.6degC while Oamaru reached 20degC, Queenstown 24degC and Wanaka 27degC.

The MetService was predicting rain to develop late this afternoon as a front hits the South Island and moves up the country.
