A man has been arrested after an apparent booze-fuelled Boxing Day stabbing in Dunedin.

The 62-year-old Dunedin man was interviewed by police and was today charged with injuring with intent over the incident on Hillhead Rd, in the Corstorphine area of the city.

He allegedly stabbed his friend in a drunken argument, police said.

The victim suffered three stab wounds, which were not life threatening.

The man will appear in Dunedin District Court on December 29.
