A 29-year-old Dunedin woman is in hospital with serious burns after an incident at a service station in Wakari this evening.

Senior Sergeant Darryl Lennane, of the Southern District Command Centre, said the incident occurred about 7.30pm, and the woman was taken to Dunedin Public Hospital.

He said police were not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

He praised the actions of the service station attendant and an unidentified passer-by who both offered assistance to the woman.
