Enrolements have doubled for the College of Education's master of teaching and learning programme.
Enrolments in the course - which was taught for the first time last year - have risen to 60 from 26 last year. This year's intake consists of
26 primary teachers and 34 secondary.
Course co-ordinator Dr Steven Sexton said the value of the course was demonstrated by the high employment rate of those who took it last year - 21 were teaching in school's in New Zealand.
He attributed the appeal of the course to it allowing students to enter employment in their specialist field after a year's training and gain a master's level qualification.
