More than 140 stands, promoting jewellery, business products, crafts, food and drink, healthy exercise and community organisations, were operating during the two-day expo, which ended, at the Edgar Centre, yesterday.
The Dunedin Community Childcare Association, which celebrates its 40th anniversary later this year, was among many participating community groups.
Association director Penelope Pask said the event had proved ''very positive'', attracting plenty of interest in the non-profit association, with runs five early childhood care centres.
On Saturday afternoon, Seb Fitzpatrick (5) was busily assembling some particularly intriguing wooden dinosaur blocks available at the association stand.
He was visiting with his sister Molly Fitzpatrick (3) and their mother, Erin Mahoney.
''He loves dinosaurs,'' Ms Mahoney explained.
She was also enjoying the expo, and was impressed by the sheer variety of offerings.
''There's something for everybody.''
Other organisations, such as the Red Cross and the Fire Service had a strong presence, and there was a strong focus on staying fit through various exercises, as well as the chance to buy some rather striking cosmetics.
Rob Woodhouse is a former Dunedin resident who now lives in Palmerston North and has been running the annual expo with his wife, Christine, for the past 15 years. The number of expo stands had increased from about 80 in the first year to more than 140 this year.
''We try to have a nice balance, not too much of any one thing.''
And variety remained the key: ''That makes it interesting for people.''
