Certified Builders Association of New Zealand members from across Otago will be volunteering their time and skills over the next two weekends to build a three-bedroom house, to raise money for the Otago Rescue Helicopter Trust.
Mitre 10 Mega Dunedin has organised the project in which up to 20 association members will take part in the build in the store's Andersons Bay Rd car park.
The project involves tradesmen working up to 24 hours a day, Friday to Sunday, over the next two weekends to complete the house to a fully clad and lined stage.
The house will be sold in an auction by Harcourts Dunedin with all proceeds going to the trust.
Mitre 10 Mega Dunedin chief executive Neil Finn-House, said the company chose the trust because of the work it did saving lives in Otago.
''Builders are happy to support the trust because they are often working in remote, hard-to-reach places in a profession where you can get injured.''
Once completed, the house will be open for viewing by the public, before being auctioned on May 16.
