New Zealand-born British pianist and composer Christopher Norton returned to his old stamping ground, Otago Boys' High School, to give a composition workshop for teachers and pupils across Otago and Southland yesterday.

Since leaving school and graduating from the University of Otago, he has become a well-established composer, producer, arranger and educationalist, and has written stage musicals, ballet scores, piano music, popular songs and orchestral music as well as jingles and signature tunes for television and radio.

About 50 people attended his session yesterday morning.
