Festival for young writers

The inaugural New Zealand Young Writers Festival will be held in Dunedin in June.

Dunedin Fringe co-chairman Aaron Hawkins said the annual festival, produced by the Dunedin Fringe Arts Trust, would include workshops, performances and panel discussions for young and emerging writers.

The programme, to be released next month, would include 15 events featuring nationally renowned writers and editors, with backgrounds in television, journalism, magazines, theatre, radio and blogs.

The events would be free, as it was important the festival was accessible, he said.
