Car smashes into Auckland house

A car has left the road at such speed it ploughed through three properties, become airborne and collided with the first floor deck of a house in Auckland.

The black two-door hatchback left Lynn Rd, Glenfield, and careened through three properties on the street this afternoon.

Videographer Daniel Hines was at the scene and said the car was travelling so fast it became airborne, and collided with the decking around the top level of a two-story home.

"It hit two letter boxes and went flying, it was airborne, and hit the deck of a two-story house and flattened the guy's vege patch."

A police spokesman said the car's driver was taken to hospital in a moderate condition.

"Somebody has been being a bit silly…and lost control," he said.

The cause of the crash was not yet known.

Photos shows the car with considerable damage and covered in mud a top a pile of wood and garden debris.
