Wall of dreams

King's High School pupils (from left) Jack Munro (14), Jacob Hodgins (16), Finn Hastie (14), Connor Tangiora (14) and Gage O'Kane (14), all of Dunedin, paint a mural on Donaghy's wall at Bathgate Park, in South Dunedin.

Malcam Trust youth worker Michela Carrington said about 50 young people were involved with the 67m mural, which she expected to be finished today.

Rain had delayed the project by two days.

The mural had been due for completion by Sunday, to coincide with the end of Youth Week.

As well as pupils from King's High School, the project included Bathgate Park School pupils and staff from Base, Idea Services, the Dunedin Training Centre, Dunedin Community College and the Malcam Charitable Trust, Miss Carrington said.

Dunedin artists Aroha Novak, Guy Howard-Smith and James Bellaney drove the project and the community gave $3500 to make it happen.

''We've also had people dropping paint off all week, which has been really helpful.''
