The Chamber Music New Zealand Award for the best group overall went to the McGlashan Trio. The group gained direct entry to the contest's southern regional final in Christchurch on June 20, Dunedin district contest organiser Feby Idrus said.

Highly commended: The Norton Trio (best performance of a New Zealand work), the Brahmsians; KBB Award: Be Bopped, King Jim Un.

Adjudicator's award: NZ House Mafia.
