Emergency services attend a crash involving a Department of Conservation ute and a black Range Rover on State Highway 1 between Allanton and Waihola yesterday afternoon.

A Department of Conservation Toyota Hilux, carrying one male and one female, and a Range Rover, with four occupants, collided shortly after 2pm.

Chief Fire Officer John Eaton said it was ''highly probable'' one of the vehicles crossed the centre line.

Four people were transported to Dunedin Hospital by ambulance, two with moderate injuries and the others with minor injuries, a St John Ambulance spokesman said.

SH1 reopened to two lanes about 4pm.
