Museum display design shortlisted

The Otago Museum finds itself in good company, having been shortlisted in the Designers Institute of New Zealand's Best Awards.

The ''Intersections: Ceramics from Ralph Hotere's Personal Collection'' design was entered into the spatial design, exhibition installations and temporary structures category.

Also shortlisted were Te Papa and Weta Workshop's Gallipoli: The Scale of Our War; Jasmax and Auckland War Memorial Museum's Gallipoli in Minecraft; and the Air New Zealand 75 Years exhibitions.

The Best Awards celebrate graphic, interactive, product and spatial design.

''Intersections'' was designed by Otago Museum design officer Annah Taggart and overseen by head of design Craig Scott.

Museum staff were ''delighted'' by the shortlisting, and Intersections, a free exhibition, would continue to run at the museum's 1877 gallery until September 6, museum marketing co-ordinator Kate Barron said.

The winner of this contest category will be announced at an Auckland awards dinner on October 9.
