A worker cleans up as a traffic island is removed on the corner of Hargest Cres and Richardson St in St Clair, Dunedin, yesterday.

The work began on Friday to remove many cycleway infrastructure additions deemed unsuitable.

The pictured traffic island designs failed to provide for the needs of turning vehicles.

Replacement infrastructure was being designed. The Dunedin City Council work is expected to cost $20,000.
