This brings the ''Dunedin Helping Dunedin'' fundraising total to $189,314.
We are now tantalisingly close to the final $220,000 needed by the trust to reach its overall target of $600,000 by October 1.
Dunedin Night Shelter Trust board member John Le Brun said the $10,000 donation was from a local family, who gave generous support with a sizable donation last Christmas. They also supported the shelter monthly, through its ''Friends of the Night Shelter'' network.
''To also receive this latest donation, I think, speaks volumes of their commitment to making Dunedin a better and safer place for the city's most vulnerable,'' Mr Le Brun said.
''It also speaks volumes of the type of community-minded people they are. ''Needless to say, the board were again humbled and thrilled by this and every other donation that has come in,'' he said.
