The Dunedin City Council voted to reduce the number of community boards and the number of members per board and the area covered by them. If approved, a rural section of the current Mosgiel Taieri Community Board will be amalgamated with the Strath Taieri Community Board, creating a giant rural ward called the Rural Taieri Community Board. The Taieri Times asks Mosgiel Taieri Community Board chairman Bill Feather if it will appeal the decision. A: The board was unanimous in its decision to appeal. We are advocating for the status quo - six elected members plus one appointed member for all boards and we want the Mosgiel-Taieri Community Board boundaries to remain as per the status quo.
Q: Are you hopeful the appeal will change the outcome?
A: We are always hopeful.
