Fire victim out of hospital

The woman who received serious burns to the inside of her throat in Wednesday's Saddle Hill fire has been discharged from Dunedin Hospital.

The woman, aged in her 40s, who asked not to be named, was discharged about noon yesterday.

She inhaled hot air while helping rescue seven cats and three dogs from the Saddle Hill home of her employer, Cat Whiskers Cattery and Allandale Cattery and Kennels' owner Brent Baguley. He was out of town.

The fire destroyed the roof of a pool house on his property.

She ''could hardly talk'', but was positive, Mr Baguley said.

''She's feeling pretty upbeat and wants to come back to work.''

''My staff members have been checking on her [today].''

She had an ''extremely sore and croaky'' throat, he said.
