Museum may buy aerial lift platform

Otago Museum officials are investigating options for buying an external aerial lift platform.

Such a lift would help reduce the need to use ladders around the museum for lighting and other building maintenance tasks.

It would also ''reduce the risk of falls from height'', museum director Dr Ian Griffin said in a recent report.

The museum has introduced other safety measures to protect staff from falling while undertaking maintenance-related work on the museum roof.
