New director for Dunedin art gallery

A new director has been appointed to the Dunedin Public Art Gallery, Dunedin City Council announced today.

Elizabeth Caldwell, currently senior art curator at Te Papa in Wellington, will take up the position in March.

She has previously held positions with the Creative New Zealand Arts Council and as curator of Contemporary Art at the Robert McDougall Art Gallery in Christchurch.

The search for a replacement for former director Priscilla Pitts was drawn out pending a consultant's report recommending that the Dunedin Public Art Gallery and Otago Settlers Museum have separate directors.
