Road spikes used to stop driver

A Dunedin man is facing charges after police used road spikes to stop his car following a high-speed chase through the suburbs of Brockville, Wakari and Kaikorai Valley.

The car, which police believe had been travelling as fast as 90km/h, hit the spikes on Kaikorai Valley Rd, skidded more than 50 metres and spun before the driver fled on foot just after 5.30pm today.

The 30-year-old man was quickly apprehended and arrested.

He was to appear in the Dunedin District Court next week charged with reckless driving, failure to stop and driving while disqualified.
