Financial officer appointed to SDHB

The chief financial officer for the Meteorological Service of New Zealand has been appointed to take control of the Southern District Health Board's finances.

SDHB chief executive Carole Heatly announced this week Clive Smith would fill the role from March next year.

The role has been vacant for some time, and a board spokeswoman declined to say who previously worked in the role.

Ms Heatly said Mr Smith was a financial management professional with more than 20 years of ‘‘broad industry experience'', and he was the chief financial officer for the Meteorological Service of New Zealand.

‘‘He has significant experience in both fast moving commercial and regulated environments, notably in utilities, state-owned enterprises and fast-moving consumable goods.

‘‘Clive's credentials also include being a chartered global management accountant, a member of the Institute of Directors, and has a Master in business administration.''

Ms Heatly said she was delighted Mr Smith was joining the team.
