One of Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge's go-to designers will appear at this year's iD Fashion Week in March.

New Zealand-born Emilia Wickstead's creations have been worn by some of London's most stylish women, and she will be in Dunedin to show pieces from her previous two autumn-winter collections, as well as several couture pieces worn on the red carpet by celebrities.

Ms Wickstead will also give a public talk about her work and will join the high-profile judging panel for the iD International Emerging Designer Awards, both to be held on March 17.

Born in Auckland, Ms Wickstead moved to Milan when she was 14, before studying at London's Central Saint Martins art school.

Since then, she has worked at Giorgio Armani, Proenza Schouler, Narciso Rodriguez and Vogue fashion houses in New York and Milan.

She launched her label in 2008.iD Dunedin Fashion Week chairwoman Cherry Lucas said Ms Wickstead would join the event's hall of fashion luminaries, which included Zandra Rhodes, Stephen Jones, Akira Isogawa, Lutz Huelle, Martin Grant and last year's queen of vintage, Doris Raymond.

"Emilia Wickstead's chic and elegant designs have created an international following and we're delighted to have her back in her home country showing at iD,'' Ms Lucas said.

"From her very latest pieces from London Fashion Week, to couture garments worn on the world's red carpets, iD audiences will enjoy a spectacular fashion experience.''
