Woman passed out drunk after allegedly driving - police

A Mosgiel woman was apprehended by Dunedin police today after she allegedly drove to a Mosgiel supermarket and passed out drunk in one of the store's aisles.

Senior Sergeant James Ure, of Dunedin, said police were called to the Countdown in Mosgiel by a member of the public about 3.30pm.

He said a witness spotted the woman arriving at the supermarket carpark in a vehicle, and she appeared to be "very intoxicated".

Snr Sgt Ure said the woman managed to go inside the store but passed out soon after.

Police took her to Dunedin Police Station for breath testing.

Charges were still to be laid, he said.
