Firefighters dampen down hot spots at a house destroyed by fire on Signal Hill while Dunedin police provide traffic management.

The fire was in a derelict house and is believed to be suspicious.

A Fire Service communications spokesman said appliances from Willowbank, St Kilda, Dunedin City and Roslyn were called to the fire about 4am on Saturday to find the house ‘‘well involved''.

A fire investigator attended the scene on Saturday to search for a cause of the fire.
