ORC hosting live online forum

The Otago Regional Council is inviting people to ask about its new draft annual plan, through an online question and answer forum.

The online, interactive Q and A, on Monday, is a first for the ORC, council chairman Stephen Woodhead says.

The event comes after the Otago-wide distribution of a consultation document, outlining the proposed work programme and related costs for the next financial year, as reflected in the draft 2016-17 annual plan.

Mr Woodhead, deputy chairwoman Gretchen Robertson and chief executive Peter Bodeker will be available live on ORC's Facebook page from 7.30pm to 9pm on Monday to answer questions about the planned work programmes outlined in the consultation document.

The document also details several proposed changes since the 2015-25 long term plan came into effect last year.

Mr Woodhead hoped the online session would enable people who did not usually engage in council processes to do so.

The council wanted to be more aware of "the concerns, queries, and feedback'' from Otago people about how the environment and the public transport network were managed, he said.
