Three people remained in a serious condition in Dunedin Hospital this morning, after a car ploughed into a parked vehicle and rolled in Brockville Rd yesterday.

A witness said two people were getting into a blue VW Beetle when a blue Toyota Vitz careened into them about 4.20pm.

Another witness, Steve Warrington, was driving up Brockville Rd as the crash happened and was first on the scene.

He said the Toyota appeared out of control as it rounded the corner near the intersection of Ettrick St, and hit the VW.

"The blue car just lost it on the top corner.

"From what I can gather, that blue car was going too quick,'' Mr Warrington said.

He tended to one woman who had a serious leg injury: "I tourniqueted her leg up''.

Firefighters and ambulance staff attended and police cordoned off the area about 4.30pm.

One person was cut free from the wreckage.

Mr Warrington believed two people were in the car that crashed and two pedestrians were involved.

One of the people in the car walked away from the crash, Mr Warrington said.

Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said the three people were in a serious condition in hospital late last night.

A police photographer and serious crash investigator had examined the scene, he said.

"The people involved haven't been spoken to yet.''

The road reopened last night.
