Police are seeking two men who allegedly crashed a car they were towing into a parked car and later broke into a business to try to find a part to repair the damage.
Sergeant Steve Aitken, of Dunedin, said the towed car crashed into a Nissan Cefiro in Malvern St, North Dunedin, about 6.10pm on Monday and the alleged offenders then travelled to Burnside and broke into Pacific Auto Parts Ltd to try to find a part for the damaged Nissan.
‘‘There was some dispute over how it was going to be fixed,'' Sgt Aitken said.
‘‘The people have gone to [the address], jumped the fence and tried to find a bumper for the damaged car.
‘‘They [then] went looking for the same sort of car to steal a bumper from [but] they couldn't find a matching bumper.''
The events were later reported to police, Sgt Aitken said.
