Eighty different purebreeds competed in the South Otago Kennel Association annual championship show.
Show secretary Ronda Trent said the hounds and their owners travelled from throughout New Zealand for the competition.
"We have had all kinds of breeds from toys like the Cavalier King Charles to gun dogs like Irish setters to working dogs like collies and German shepherds.''
She estimated 300 people attended the show each day to look at the "lovely dogs''.
While the field had been strong, two working dogs, a corgi and a Bouvier des Flandres, won the best in show titles.
Judges for the show travelled from Australia to select the top dogs, she said.
"There are a limited number of all-breed judges in New Zealand, so we have judges come from Australia as well.''
The winning dogs were judged on conformation, movement and overall standard.
