National award winner

The Esplanade Restaurant redevelopment in The Hydro building in St Clair, Dunedin, has won a national award, announced at the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards in Auckland last night.

Work on the building, understood to be about 100 years old, was undertaken in 2013, including quake-proofing, structural work and fitting-out.

The Esplanade, entered by W. Hamilton Building, won the Value Award Under $2million.

Auckland University's new Faculty of Engineering Research, Building 906, home to one of Australasia's largest earthquake-testing facilities, was the Supreme Award winner and an education category winner and won the over $15million value award.
