Woman grabbed off Dunedin street

A young woman managed to fight her way out of a station wagon after being grabbed off a Dunedin street in broad daylight.

Police are investigating the attempted abduction of the 18-year-old on Forth St about 4.25pm yesterday.

The woman told police she was walking along the street when a person in the back seat of the parked vehicle tried to pull her inside.

The driver also attempted to push her into the back seat.

Detective Sergeant Neil Lowden, of Dunedin, said the woman managed to fight her way out and was not hurt in the incident.

The vehicle was described as an older 1990s-type station wagon in dirty condition with black roof racks. It was parked on the left hand side of Forth St, facing north.

Police are appealing to the public for any information about the attack, or who may have seen the station wagon on Forth St.
