Hit-and-run witnesses sought

Police are seeking witnesses to a possible hit-and-run in central Dunedin yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said police wanted to speak to a pedestrian, a Caucasian man aged in his late 60s or early 70s.

Police had reports of the man being hit by a small blue Nissan hatchback on the corner of George and St Andrews Sts, about 3.30pm.

The pedestrian was possibly wearing a blue and black Swandri jacket.

The Nissan had white signwriting on its sides, he said.

The Nissan was abandoned by two teenage boys, aged 13 and 15, in the Meridian mall car park.

It had been stolen overnight.

The 13-year-old boy was found by police and referred to Youth Aid.

The 15-year-old boy had not been located and was wanted by police for breach of bail.

Police would like to identify and speak to the pedestrian and any witnesses who saw the incident, the Nissan or the teenagers.
