Police seek pedestrian hit by car

The pedestrian involved in a hit-and-run in central Dunedin has not come forward, but police have found a 15-year-old boy believed to be involved in the incident.

Police want to speak to a Caucasian man aged in his late 60s or early 70s, after reports he was hit by a stolen blue Nissan hatchback on the corner of George and St Andrew Sts, about 3.30pm on Sunday.

Senior Sergeant Liz Waru, of Dunedin, said two teenage boys stole a 1987 Toyota Starlet from Queens Dr between 6pm on Saturday and 8.40am on Sunday and dumped it in Tomahawk Rd, where they stole a blue 1996 Nissan Pulsar between 12.30am and 11.30am on Sunday and dumped it at Meridian mall later on Sunday.

Police said the Nissan was abandoned by two teenage boys, aged 13 and 15.

The 13-year-old boy was found by police on Sunday and referred to Youth Aid.

The 15-year-old boy was found and interviewed by police yesterday. The boy was wanted by police for breach of bail.
