Merritt is charged with murdering his 51-year-old co-worker Karin Ann Ross last December.
The body of Ms Ross was found in the car park of Spotless Cleaning Services in Strathallan St abour 2am on December.
Merritt, who has denied murdering Ms Ross, appeared before Justice Gerald Nation at a brief High Court hearing in Dunedin today.
Crown and defence counsel Robin Bates and Anne Stevens confirmed there were no outstanding pre-trial issues and the case would be ready for trial on October 3.
Justice Nation remanded Merritt in custody to appear again on that date.
