Police are still in the early stages of an investigation into an alleged home invasion which left a 55-year-old Green Island man with serious injuries.
The man was still in Dunedin Hospital yesterday.
Details of how the man was injured were still unclear, a police spokeswoman said yesterday.
Police were still to determine how the events at Green Island unfolded but the man was found injured and in a "distressed state'' by police, who were called by St John staff, the spokeswoman said.
A forensic examination of the Church St property was due to be completed yesterday.
