Stabbing in Mosgiel

A 45-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder after a dispute over a missing firearm in Mosgiel this morning, police say.

Senior Sergeant Al Dickie, of Mosgiel, said the man received minor injuries in the assault and the offender was know to the victim.

St John staff were called to the Mosgiel police station about 8.15am where the wounded man was stitched up.

He did not require hospitalisation, Snr Sgt Dickie said.

A 38-year-old man sought in relation to the incident was apprehended in Bush Rd about 2.15pm, he said.

"Police executed a search warrant at his address in North Taieri about an hour later in search of the knife allegedly used in the stabbing. However it was not located,'' Snr Sgt Dickie said.

No arrests have yet been made and inquiries are continuing.
