This may be the 15th year 75,000 giant Jaffas are let loose down Dunedin's Baldwin St, but there is still a bit of mystery surrounding the race.

Cadbury events and Cadbury World manager Kylie Ruwhiu-Karawana said this year's Jaffa colour was top secret and would not be revealed until the race, which takes place on the world's steepest street, at 11am tomorrow.

Musician Jason Kerrison, former frontman of New Zealand band Opshop, who is starring in the musical Grease in Dunedin, will be performing at the event.

The race raises money for charity by selling numbered Jaffas for $1 each. The owner of the first Jaffa across the finish line wins a prize.

Ms Ruwhiu-Karawana said the charities - Make a Wish Foundation, Parents Centre and Surf Lifesaving New Zealand - would each receive up to $25,000.

In recent weeks, people from the charities had spent hours sticking numbers on Jaffas.
