All evidence in the murder trial of former University of
Otago economics tutor Clayton Weatherston has now been
completed in the High Court at Christchurch.
Weatherston (33) stabbed his ex-girlfriend Sophie Elliott to
death at her Dunedin home on January 9 last year but denies
it was murder.
The defence closed its case yesterday afternoon after the
second of its two psychiatric specialists finished his
evidence.
The jury will return on Monday morning for closing addresses
from the Crown and the defence.
The judge will then sum up the case before the jury retires
to consider its verdict, probably some time on Tuesday.
