Dunedin and Wanaka have accounted for nearly half of all New Zealand intercepts of the recreational drug mephedrone.

Some staff at the University of Otago College of Education are feeling "shell-shocked" by a review of college operations which aims to cut costs by $1.3 million and is likely to mean job losses.

"I used to stand on chairs at relatives' houses when I was little, and put on a bit of a play. I like the limelight - very much so."
