About 100 people, including tourists, got a taste of rural life when they stopped to watch the lunchtime promotion.
Celebrations chairman Murray Taylor was thrilled the display, including a traction engine, vintage stationary bailer, trucks, tractors and the animals, could be staged in the Octagon.
"It's not often you get this. It's been a while since it's been in here.''
The two-day show, to be held at the Mosgiel A and P showground, will feature entertainment, including the Topp Twins and professional strongman Levi Vaoga, the traditional dog trials, equestrian events and trade and market stalls.
Entries were "well up'' on previous years and he could only hope "everything is good weather-wise''
Mr Taylor encouraged attendees to bring the programme from yesterday's Otago Daily Times with them to ensure nothing was missed.
The show is on January 23 and 24 at the Mosgiel A & P showground on Dukes Rd.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for school age children and $25 for a family pass.
