A husband-to-be had some explaining to do after being
arrested on his stag night in Dunedin, shortly after
allegedly smashing a shop window while wielding a large ball
and chain.
Senior Sergeant Mel Aitken said friends of the 32-year-old
man had attached the "seriously heavy" ball and chain to his
leg during celebrations on Saturday night.
The celebrations ended about 2am yesterday, after the man
allegedly smashed a 3m by 4m shop window in the Exchange
while swinging around the ball and chain, she said.
The arrested man would appear in court on Thursday, facing
one charge of wilful damage, and was also scheduled to get
married next weekend, Snr Sgt Aitken said.
"I think he's feeling worried because his wife-to-be took the
phone call [from police]," she said.
