A public design competition will be held to find a logo for
the new Southern District Health Board.
The competition was announced this week by the Otago and
Southland District Health Boards, which merge on May 1.
Telecom has donated an Apple I-Phone for the winner.
Regional chief executive Brian Rousseau, in a media release,
said it was important Southland and Otago had a "sense of
ownership" and could identify with the new board.
"Therefore, we have decided to hold a competition for our
communities and staff to design a new logo and be involved in
projecting our core identity and values."
DHB management would consult local runanga before the new
logo was unveiled on May 1.
Mr Rousseau said while the design brief was open, the logo
needed to reflect both Southland and Otago, and the new
board's "ongoing commitment" to putting the patient first and
providing quality and sustainable health care to its
population.
"An organisation's logo should reflect its people, what it
provides, its vision and values and how it goes about
achieving it, Mr Rousseau said.
Entries close on April 1.
Entrants must reside in either Southland or Otago.
