The Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter flew to Macraes Flat,
East Otago, last night to pick up a 15-year-old youth who had
fallen from a tree.
The boy fell 5m, landing on his back, about 6.15pm.
A St John spokesman said a crew of first responders from the
nearby Oceana Gold mine were concerned the teenager might
have injured his spine.
The rescue helicopter was requested to take him to Dunedin
Hospital for assessment.
