Larnach Castle Ltd has bought a neighbouring 17.4ha
property in a mortgagee sale.
The Camp Rd property includes a 900sq m luxury Bluestone home
built by the Corish family, now of Oamaru.
Larnach Castle director Norcombe Barker said he did not know
what the company would do with the property, but there were
many possibilities.
"We need to find out [what] we are allowed to do. We thought
we might have a staff do there first and consider the
possibilities," he said.
The mortgagee sale was a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity"
that the company could not pass up, he said.
He declined to say how much was paid for the property.
The Corish family said a dispute with neighbours over the
purpose of the house cost it $30,000 in legal fees even
before building began in 2005.
Mr Barker said the objections were from the local community
and were not relevant to Larnach Castle's purchase of the
property.
