An Australian media personality
arrives in Dunedin today to film a series aimed at promoting
the city and surrounding regions to Australians.
Jules Lund, a presenter on the travel show Getaway, has been
contracted by Tourism Dunedin to film a series of "webisodes"
- an internet film clip, on behalf of partners Tourism New
Zealand, Venture Southland and Destination Fiordland.
Tourism Dunedin Australian-based business development manager
Heather Mollins said the regional tourism organisations hoped
to "grow tourism arrivals, bed nights and visitor spend from
Australia".
The aim of the joint venture is to increase awareness of
transtasman flights to Dunedin, with footage to feature the
city's wildlife and landscape.
Lund will be joined in his travels by the winner of a Canon
Australian photography competition, and "respected blogger"
Neerav Bhat, who Tourism Dunedin hopes will generate media
coverage across the Tasman, Ms Mollins, said.
"The celebrity element means Dunedin will have talkability.
We are aiming to create water-cooler conversations around
Australia."
