Southern bull sales

Strong bull sales continue, some "absolutely outstanding" sales having taken place in Canterbury recently.

Te Mania Angus, at Parnassus, sold 142 bulls for an average of $7900. The top price was $30,000, sold to Bruce Johns, of Kaiwara Angus, at Culverden.

There was a "tremendous" line-up of bulls, and buyers came from the top of the North Island to Southland, PGG Wrightson Otago stud stock specialist Roger Keach said.

James and Fe Fraser, from Stern Angus, in the Totara Valley, sold 80 bulls for an average of $7200 and a top price of $37,000, sold to Edward Sherriff, of Pine Park Angus, at Marton.

Gerald Hargreaves, from Kakahu Angus, near Geraldine, sold 99 bulls for an average of $6970.
