Party time for Fonterra

Fonterra's having a party - and the community is invited.

The dairy co-operative will celebrate its 10th birthday by hosting a free family day at Anderson Park, Invercargill, on Labour Day, October 24 - one of six to be held in the country's main dairying regions.

Farmers would man the barbecues and hand out ice creams, while some "great Kiwi entertainers" would perform, Winton-based Fonterra shareholders councillor Lloyd McCallum said.

While October was a busy month for farmers, Fonterra could not let the milestone pass without showing its gratitude to the "many people and communities that have helped it along the way".

Staff and families from all Fonterra sites around the region were invited, although some staff would be working to keep the sites running.

The event will be held from noon to 4.30pm.
