Israel Dagg is usually a bit of a ratbag.

But Dagg, as she is better known - yes, that's right, she's a girl - was on best behaviour at the recent Southern Canterbury A and P Show in Waimate, under the watchful eye of young handler Heath Bell-Taylor (6).

There was a strong sporting - particularly rugby - theme among the Bell-Taylor family's entries in the pet lamb section.

Heath's twin brother Flynn was parading Jimmy (Cowan) while younger sister Kelsey (5) was leading a female Jane, short for Cory Jane.

The children live on a lifestyle property near Timaru where the family keep a variety of rare breeds, including poultry and ducks.

They won the Royal Agricultural Society medal at the show with one of their bantams.

It was the first show for the association, which followed a merger between the former Timaru and Waimate Agricultural and Pastoral Associations earlier this year.
