Eleven helicopters ferried buyers to Foveran Deer Park's
29th annual elite sire stag sale in the Hakataramea Valley last
week.
The sale incorporated a commercial and trophy sale.
The 29th sale attracted buyers from throughout New Zealand.
There were 158 stags offered and a top price of $52,000 was
achieved for a 2-year-old son of Windsor, out of a Salvador
daughter which was bought by Mt Cecil Trophy Deer in South
Canterbury.
It was a strong sale throughout and the stags were presented
in very good order, carrying exceptional heads.
A 3-year-old son of Heathrow, out of a Cameron daughter, sold
to E.J. Gordon, of Awapuni, for $26,000.
A 2-year-old pure German son of Amadeus sold to North Island
buyers J.K. and L.M.Elder for $22,000.
A 2-year-old son of Amadeus fetched $14,500.
The balance of the sire offering sold from $3000 to $7000.
In the commercial sale, a 6-year-old by a son of Motsumi sold
for $20,000 to Canaan Farming Ltd on the West Coast, while
the balance fetched from $1800 to $3000.
