A celebration of New Zealand viticulture kicks off today in
More than 500 grape growers, winemakers and industry
participants are expected at this year's Romeo Bragato
Conference which will begin in Blenheim today and conclude on
New Zealand Winegrowers general manager research Simon Hooker
said the event would celebrate the ''stellar'' vintage of
2013, the industry's recent success and the emerging sense of
confidence in the industry.

The event would be attended by members of the wine industry
from throughout New Zealand.
The conference will feature keynote speeches by KPMG New
Zealand leader of agribusiness Ian Proudfoot and Peter
Baines, one of Australia's leaders in rapid response to acts
of terrorism and natural disasters and the founder of the
charitable organisation Hands Across the Water.
The conference programme includes technical sessions focused
on quality grape and wine production and also features the
only wine awards acknowledging the grape grower - the Bragato
Winners of the competition will be announced at the Bragato
Dinner on August 29.
The dinner will also feature the finalists of the Moore
Stephens Markhams Young Viticulturist competition.
